What's the low down this weekend?
Looks like the only action, if you're looking for national acts, is a blast from the past roundup for those of us north of Miami.
If you've got the cash to spend there's Deep Purple playing at the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre. Tickets are running $50 to $75 and the prolific Edgar Winters Band is opening up for them. If they don't play Smoke on the Water, feel robbed. I'm blanking on anything else Deep Purple ever recorded.
A little further north Morrissey is taking over Mizner Park in Boca. Tickets are running $45 to $75 and I kind of want to go just to see who will show up to see Morrissey. I'm expecting a flock of emo kids, but at those prices, it will probably be leftover 80s kids who still listen to Flock of Seagulls once in awhile.
But, on the local scene there's a few great shows going on.
The topper is the Undead Invasion show at Alligator Alley in Oakland Park. It started out as Ride Zombie Ride, Zombies Organize and IMtheDEVIL. Now, according to Kilmo's website, it has morphed into Zombies Organize, IMtheDEVIL, Lefty Lucy, DJ Sloan and Grand Theft Otto. I don't know either, at least it's free.
At The Poor House The Righteous Devices and Band No. 12 will be playing. I've heard a lot of good things about Band No. 12 from the WPB crews. There's also something going on at that AntiKulture Gallery in Miami, but who the hell wants to drive to Miami?
