What To Do?

August 4 Edition

So, what is there to do this glorious weekend?

Looks like it is set to be in the low 90s with a few clouds. So you can go bake your ass off in Miami at Bayfront Park and see around 5,000 hip-hop acts including Wu-Tang and Local boy Brimstone127. Tickets are $50 to stand in the sun and $130 to have some shade. Seriously.

Indoors you can find Hot Tuna at Culture Room for $25. Meh.

The rechristening of CD Collector as Radio Active Records is going on during the day, from 3pm to 10pm. No cover, worth checking out. Animals of the Arctic, Protoman and The Harshmellows will be playing. There are also a bunch of those DJ things. Check out their new site: myspace.com/radio_active_records

Here are the good shows though.

Lights Down Low and Polyester Pimpstrap are playing at City Limits at 8pm. Should be fun.

The Freakin' Hott are playing at PoorHouse at 11pm.

The show not to miss is happening at Ray's Downtown. Yeah, all the way up in WPB (that's the 561 for you thugsters). The Dirty Boxes, who I have yet to see are playing with The Sleeparounds. But, they are both playing with those fucking troublemakers, Shart Attak. The show comes right on the end of actual Shark Week, so you know those overdramatic punks are ready to pounce at any second. I'm not sure what Shart Attak did to Pots N' Pans (already vulnerable after their failure at the New Times Beerfest Battle of the Bands - see their myspace for the video of their crushing defeat by a Ziggy Marley cover band), but I do know who ever shows up to play will put on a damn good show.

It would be just desserts though if Shart Attak took to the stage with their rendition of "Business in the Front, Party in the Back," and Pots N' Pans chased them off, as revenge of their embarrassment at Fox and Hound last month when Pots N' Pans were sent crying into the parking lot by the toothy bastards wearing white tees and brandishing a bullhorn. Holy Run On Sentence!

My advice, ignore all those other shows and head to Ray's Downtown. Afterwards you can go hang with the SubPoppers at Respectables or listen to some weird Irish Country music at O'Shays.

CHOOSE ONE MAKING YOU BETTER FEELING!
